Program/Intervention Description

Psychoeducational classes adoptive parents attend within 120 days after child's placement. Parents receive information "Just in time" and focus on skills building and training needed to address child's trauma history and behaviors. Team training with adoptive parent and post adoption professional.

Program Goals/Outcomes

Increase adoptive parents understanding by becoming trauma informed and building skills to manage survival behaviors. Encourage parents to develop relationships with professional adoptive staff for future support. Encourage parents to develop and use each other for respite and support. Familiarize families with community resources to promote families seeking assistance early.
